A Rioja not like other Riojas. Juan Akutain established is 5 hectare estate back in 1975. Since then, his son has grown the vines to 6.5 hectares so still an independent, small operation all estate grown fruit. Wines are fermented naturally in a converted horse stable. Aged in used American Oak and then bottle aged in caves built under the vineyards resulting in a youthful yet expressive Tempranillo blend that is medium bodied and perfect for braised short ribs or boeuf bourguignon.
