Casona Lopez - Malbec 2020

Bodgeas Lopez, founded in 1898, there’s something that makes this wine stand out from the sea of other Malbecs out there: the oak treatment. All the wines at Bodegas Lopez are aged in very large, and very old French oak vessels - 5HL being the smallest, and 35HL the biggest. This might be the norm for traditionally made Barolo, but it isn’t at all in Mendoza - giving these wines a style that links them to the old world.  A level of nuance and class that’s rare for Argentina at any price point.
