Chateau Guilhem was built in the Languedoc region of southern Fance in 1791. The property once belonged to the Marquis de Auberjon and was bought by the Guilhem family in the 1800s. They've since run the domaine for the past 5 generations with a steady future in sight.
Pot de Vin, which translates to "the bribe", is a play on words from an old 1970s label of the wine. Bertrand was insired by that vintage label to create this natural wine in a "pot" shaped bottle of 100% unoaked Merlot .
Aromas of red and dark berries (plum, cherry), possibly with hints of licorice, violet, and maybe some mineral or earthy notes. Light-to-medium body. Very fresh, juicy fruit. The lack of oak makes it leaner and more fruit-forward. Tannins are present but smooth. Good length, with a fairly clean finish.
A perfect little bistro wine paired great with steak frites.
