Jonas Dostert - Mosel Elbling Karambolage 2022
Jonas Dostert - Mosel Elbling Karambolage 2022
The 2022er Karambolage (with L-Nr. 1-23 whereby the reference to the grapes is written on the left of the label) was an equal blend from 40-year- old vines of Elbling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris (macerated for 10 days) and was fermented and aged in 228-liter used oak barrels along natural lines, i.e. without any intervention and was bottled unfiltered and with little SO2 added (30 mg/l).
Salmon pink in color, it reveals a finely aromatic nose with notes of fresh cherry, raspberry, cassis, almond, cranberry, red apple, minty herbs, and a touch of apricot. The wine is light and fresh on the palate, with a fine and deliciously aromatic texture. The finish is fresh and zesty, with lovely length on a light tartness reminiscent of orange peel and grapefruit. It also has excellent length. This Karambolage has lovely aromatics coupled with complexity while remaining fine and is drinking beautifully well. Now-2028.
