Keep Wines - Cabernet Sauvignon Bengier Vineyard 2019

Winemakers Jack Roberts (Matthiasson Wines Assistant Winemaker) and Johanna Jensen (formerly with Scholium Project and Broc Cellars) have come together to create wines influenced by the old world with great acid and minimal manipulation. In the vigneron tradition, they do much of the work themselves from vineyard to bottling.

Our second Vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon from the very special Bengier Vineyard (formerly Vare Vineyard). Contrary to most Napa Cabernet sites this Vineyard typically ripens at lower sugar levels with delicious fruit concentration. This wine is a nod to the classic Cabernet that we have had the opportunity to taste from the 1970’s and 80's from Napa. With a slight twist to the typical Napa Cabernet, we also decided this vintage to add 20% whole cluster and then we finished the elevage by using one year used barrels and aging for 24 months and then bottle aged for over a year before release.
