This is a new wine as it is a blend of 60% Syrah from our home ranch, Bassi and 40% Grenache from a young block at Bassi, blended with Grenache from Rancho Arroyo Grande by Lopez Lake in the southern point of the SLO Coast AVA. The two varieties were cofermented, the Syrah was kept 100% whole cluster and the Grenache was fully destemmed onto the top of the fermentation.
The grapes fermented with native yeast for 3 weeks and then were pressed in our wooden basket press. The wine aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months and a small amount of sulfur was added at bottling to capture the energy of the wine. Notes of berry, spice, and structure from Syrah and bright fruit from Grenache.
168 cases were produced.
