Vollenweider - Riesling "Wolfer" Dry 2022
Vollenweider - Riesling "Wolfer" Dry 2022
The Wolfer 2022, as it is referred to on the consumer label, is a dry wine made from 50-year-old vines trained on single pole in the terraced part of the Wolfer Goldgrube and was left for one year on its gross lees. It offers a superbly minty, spicy, and fresh nose at first, before showing more ripeness as notes of almond cream, yellow peach, a touch of quince, anise, and smoke. The wine is nicely focused, but also tart and slightly phenolic. It builds presence and intensity as it unfolds, and leaves a nice tart feel of spices and herbs in the nicely long finish. This broader, dry Riesling needs a couple of years to integrate all its elements on the palate and even has some upside potential if it gains in finesse. 2027-2032+
